There is specialized software that issued for improving productivity and to more easily manage the medical billing and coding process. Employers will require that the medical billing specialists have the knowledge of such software and the ability to proficiently use the software to process the medical insurance claims. Since this job is quantifiable, the employers may set performance goals for this position. This position may require interaction with the patients to collect information and also to interact with the insurance company representatives. This is a great opportunity for those who can understand health care rules and regulations are aware of heath procedures and diagnoses, are good with managing paperwork, and have decent follow-up skills.

The candidates should have knowledge in medical law and ethics, patient information privacy (HIPPA) regulations. Knowledge in insurance billing, forms and procedures are required.
